so i was using my lightning cable perfectly fine the other day. i just took it out of my bagpack and now it looks and smells like a battery was leaking over it. i dont even think its possible?

obviously doesnt work anymore either. i guess i can just get it replaced but i still wonder what could have caused this. any idea?

Looks like the copper has oxidized. Happened to my wife's cables which she just flings around the car. I imagine the salt tracked onto the floor mats (where the cable often sits) didn't help matters at all. Yours look particularly bad. I wouldn't use it.

Liquid damage. Green corrosion causes that.

I would clean out that "bagpack" and see what is in their. It would take something corrosive to do that to the cable end. Like the others said, I would not be using that cable anymore.
