what happened to my Documents?

all of sudden I realized that they are not in the sidebar in Finder

after trying to locate the folder I went to "home" and found the Documents folder so I drag it back to the sidebar then I click it to find out that everything in it is missing, how can the happen? (I don't remember deleting the file or anything like that)

PS I don't think I secured deleting the trash, is there anyway I can get my info back...that is if I deleted it by mistake

Try spotlighting one of the documents

I don't think I renamed my home folder, it's still named after my name

spotlight can't find anything in my document folder, and I had some songs in there and when play them in iTunes I can't because I have to find the source of the file

so are my files gone forever?
