What happened to my files!

I just downloaded Lion. My friend told me that all her files were still their after. My music is gone, many of my files are gone(except my applications). And I don't know what to do. I never made any backups because I didn't know this would happen!

Did you do anything different than your friend? The Applications surviving gives hope that the rest of the files are also still there.

How much music did you have? It may still be around. You can use something like Grand Perspective http://grandperspectiv.sourceforge.net/ to find them.
