So, Steve Jobs mentioned during the WWDC Keynote that the iPod connector would be available for the Mini Cooper along the the various series of BMW. And the Cooper even appeared on the Apple site for a couple of days. Now it's gone, and not mentioned at all in the ad. As a new Cooper owner, I was really excited about the product.... What happened??

this was the original press release from Apple:

The new system developed by Apple and BMW enables drivers to seamlessly use their iPod in BMW’s 3 Series, Z4 Roadster, X3 and X5 Sports Activity Vehicles and MINI Cooper by simply plugging their iPod into a cable located in the car’s glove compartment.

however, they yanked the reference and photo to the Mini shortly thereafter. according to some of the posts on this site, they'll be (re)announcing the Mini again in a couple months w/ it's own marketing presumably w/ some other car makers also.

i had planned on 'iPodding' my BMW, but my iPod is too old! :(
