You waste your time is what happens. You don't have to be on 4.0.1 to jb 4.2.1. You can use the efficient route of either installing 4.2.1 or a custom 4.2.1, which'll include the jb.
Make sure you have your blobs either way. You can't install a non-approved iOS without the blobs.
