What if you had just boughten a old iPhone and now the release? Is there any return policy?

I'm in a real bind, my phone is broken and I do NEED one like immediately, and I've been looking at the iPhone for quite awhile. If I bought it today, (old gen) would I be able to get most money back and trade up for a new iPhone come July 11th?

The area I live in doesn't get 3G, but about 16 miles away does in the city, but to be honest i'm not there much other than school.

Anyways, let me know guys, I appreciate the help! Not sure if I should get the old one or what, but I know I do need a phone asap.

Boughten?

If you purchased an iPhone after the 27th of May I believe you qualify for a free upgrade. Just keep in mind that the 3G iPhone plans are more expensive.

I remember seeing on engadget or gizmodo that people who bought recently, i beleive something like may 27th, will be able to upgrade to the 3G phone for free.

can't you return a product with in 30 days of buying it, (im not sure but I think thats just the standard) I'm not sure how apple does that

is that for sure though?

Yes, but you're going to pay twice as much if you buy a 1st gen, (399 vs 199) I'd say get a prepaid phone for a month, like one you buy at wal-mart or something, and use that until you get the 3G iphone, then you won't have to deal with any contracts or upgrades.

You could also do that, With AT&T, you can sign a new contract and get a new phone, then cancel within 30 days to get your money back and return the phone.

what if you ordered it online like say the 23 of may and you received it and activated on the 27th. will you still be eligible for the upgrade?

well, the problem with a prepaid phone is if I do buy it that plus the minutes would end up costing me almost 200. I use alot of minutes, at least 600,I don't know what that would be for the month in prepaid..

so theres been no confirmation on that apple return policy for at&t?

According to AT&T's memo's you should be able to get the new iphone with the 3g and gps at the same cost as everyone else, there is a 14 day return period on the 1st gen iphone, and on the 2ndgen its 30 days, goto the AT&T store and either get a pay as you go OR buy the cheapest phone they have which in my area is the plain black v3 razor, and if you buy today you have 30 days to use and than return it on the 11th of july and tell them you want the 3g iphone. If your not going to use 3g or the gps and the price of the 1st gen 8 gig model does not bother you , than get that .

My MB receipt says returns allowed in 14 days with receipt and then something about a restocking fee.... but that's a notebook not a phone.
