There are thousands of demo units of the 1st gen iPhones in all the stores.

What happens when they switch over to 3Gs in July? Does Apple refurb these? Do they give em to Apple Store employees? Those old iPhones are VALUABLE- the only ones that will be able to be unlocked or hacktivated.

they will most likely re-condition/refurbish them and keep them on hand to use as warranty replacements for 1st generation iphones since those sold recently will still be under warranty for several more months...

Probably same treatment as demo iPods....

they'll get refurbed by Geniuses at the store and sold on the refurb/discount list that's a by-request only kinda thing.

What is this by-request refurb list? Sounds interesting.
