What happens when you leave you whitebook open over a burning candle?

Why would your friend do this in the first place?
And even though aluminium is a metal, the heat would have damaged the display too, as a candle flame has a temperature of up to 1400° C.

From what I understand, it was swept off the bed in a moment of passion! I hope it was worth it...

The parts to repair the computer are pretty cheap on eBay.

As for the backlight and LCD, you might be able to get away with one from $40.
