What hard drive to buy for 5th gen AEBS?

I'm looking to buy a 2tb hard drive to connect to my 5th gen Airport Extreme.

I tried a Samsung drive in my own enclosure but if the drive sits for a period of time I can't write to the drive without unplugging it and plugging it back in which is a pain in the you know what. Reading from the drive was not a problem.

Can anyone suggest a good reliable 2tb external hard drive to connect to my 5th gen AEBS that will "just work" all the time?

Get an SSD if you need reliability. No platter-based hard drive is better than any other.
