As I understand it, the reason TouchID is twice as fast on 6S/6S+ is it's the first time since TouchID was released that Apple have changed the hardware.

Any idea what they changed?

Just curious.

Actually the hardware was already changed for the iPhone6 and iPad Air 2.
Probably not enough for Apple to call it touch id 2.
And yet it was different from the 5s one, and the sensor had a bigger resolution.
This new iteration however is much better than both the ones that came before

So what's changed about it that makes it so fast now?
 
Still doesn't work for me unfortunately. But I think my fingerprints are basically toast after all the skin issues I've had on my hands. I should turn to a life of crime.
