Probably the X. I was worried that after so many years I wouldn't be able to get used to not having a home button. I took to not having it almost immediately and loved the extra screen real estate.

For me, it was definitely the 8 Plus, and I would still be using it if I hadn't cracked it on a bike ride. That phone is just so heavy and just feels like a sturdy rugged phone. I loved it.
I have an SE which I take with me biking. Its small size is perfect for carrying in the seat storage pouch.

Yeah, I was dumb though, I had a case for it on my bike, and I stopped to look at a map, and I forgot to zipper the case up and it was entirely my fault.

5c

I remember making a judgement call on the 5c vs. the 5S. Went with comfort (the 5c had those nice rounded corners without giving up the flat sides, a nice expression of minimalism). I figured by two years down the road, all the stuff that was introduced on the 5S (64-bit processor, better cameras, Touch ID) would come to the 6c. :(

iPhone 5. It was my first, pre-order, received on launch day iPhone. Black/Slate, it was also the first to have black metal (anodized). And it had flat sides.

My iPhone 6+ was also nice. It had a solid weight to it that the 6s+ I have now (secondary phone) can't match.

Nothing comes close to the "magic" experience from when I had the original iPhone back in '07/'08, so it must be that hands-down.

Second place is the 4. Other than that, really every other iPhone has been kind of a commodity/marginal upgrade. My least favorite was the 5.

I would have to say the 4. Also the 7, especially in piano black. Ignoring the scratches that came with the piano black finish, it was such a sleek pocketable phone that felt modern, especially the home button. So good.

Even though I now have a technically superior 12 Pro Max, I often miss my 8 Plus. The last big iPhone with a home button and TouchID. It really was the perfection of the old (classic) design.

iPhone XS Max, followed by iPhone 4S, and then iPhone 6+.

iPhone 6+ was crap for longevity/future-proofing, but it was such an exciting phone to be released due to the larger screen and form factor, and I still liked it a lot.

iPhone 7/7+ is my least favorite. It’s just not memorable for me. It’s still fast and could be a good phone to use today, but again, it’s really not memorable for anything for me.

4s and 7; for me they both resolved problems and had fewest compromises. But don’t like notches or chunky phones.

I have several favs:

Original iPhone
My first iPhone. It was a dog but it was cool to have one.

3GS
I liked the curved back. It’s a design I really liked back in 2009.

6Plus
The first plus sized iPhone. I liked the size increase. Mine never bent kept it over 3 years to the 8 Plus

XS Max
I found it to be a very stable device.

11 Pro Max
Loved the Green Color

12 Pro Max Current phone
Like the Pacific Blue and screen size.
Love the camera.

I had a 4S and a 5S that I liked but not my favorites.

12 is actually my favorite. Perfect balance of screen size and light weight.
I agree though, hard to beat the experience of the original iPhone.
iPhone 5 hands-down the most boring. 7 was a little dull save for the matte black option!
