I woke up one Sunday morning and told myself I was going to stop drinking soda. It's been about 20 years now I've tried drinking a sip but I can't do it.

I gave up something most would think is a bad idea but it ended up working out spectacularly.

After college, I was expected to continue my education, but I quit right there.

Initially it was hard because all my friends were in Ivy League law schools and medical schools and showing off.

But it turned out being the best decision I ever made, and now they're all jealous of me.

I'm back in school now part time, but it's just for the title (not a job).

Sugar in my coffee. I just can't drink it that way now. The sugar tastes processed and odd.

PS. I understand about soda. If I have an addiction, it's that. In my 20s I could go through a case of 12 cans or two 2-liters in a day. Due to acid reflux I drink far less now.

You know you've gone too far when the stuff starts to taste like cold medicine.

@Hieveryone Congrats in going back to school.

Sometimes situations arise where we have to change directions in life but we find ways to make it better in the end.

@eyoungren When I was addicted to coffee I cut down sugar to at least 1 teaspoon per cup because I wanted to drink coffee like the cowboys did the in the old days coffee with no sugar.

Thank you man! Actually it's a long story.

I'm still doing my job and living my life, and I enrolled part time, but found out quickly I don't really have time for it.

So I dropped out.

Then the pandemic hit, and my social life took a short term hit and I got bored, so I re-enrolled lol.

I'm going to stick with it even though things are back to normal. I'm actually 1/3 of the way done anyway, so might as well finish.

I wish I could give up sugar. That's a really good one man. Much respect.

I've given up the toxic cesspool that is social media. It's been about 5 years now. That is unless you count MR as social media. I suppose it could be defined as such through a certain lense. Still, I'm referring to the obvious black holes ie: Facebarf, Tweaker, WhatsUpp, TikTakToe, snapwack etc.

Social media is definitely toxic. FB, Twitter, and IMO especially IG and Snap. I've gotten used to it though. I just play the game. It's hard not to have social media bc everyone expects you to these days. It is what it is.

For twitter the key is to be on their with people who have similar views.

For Facebook, who uses that app anymore? Lol. Just never log on because frankly, it’s only our parents on there these days anyway lol.

For Snap, it’s to checkout the preview before opening or get an app that let’s you see it without opening. Then if it’s NONSENSE don’t open it and let them wonder if you saw it

For IG, just post your best stuff. No getting around that one. But the easiest thing is just posting with your friends then of course shining it up with an app and make sure you have a cool looking background/setting. That’s prob the easiest way to survive IG.

I think it’s easier just not to use them. Healthier too :D

Of course as a young person, I can see how that would be quite socially isolating, having a tangible impact on connecting with ones peers. As an older person, I don’t have that expectation being held over my head.

Yes definitely healthier IMO. Social media can literally put you in a bad mood ALL DAY, and if you think about it, it can be because some person you haven't hung out with in 5 years talking some garbage that doesn't even matter. You could literally "un-friend" them or turn the phone off and go about your day. In a sense, social media isn't even real.

There's a lot of nonsense on there, meaning straight up lies. People post things to make other people feel bad and just to make themselves look good even if isn't true. For example, all those cars you see on IG, the people claiming to drive those cars, I bet a lot of them are probably rented. Anyone with a few hundred bucks can rent cars like that, snap a photo with their iPhone, and post it online to make it seem like they're rich when in reality they don't drive those cars.

I mean if a guy is driving a Range Rover or G Wagon, sure that's probably real but you see people driving a Bugatti?? Like...idk but unless they live in Dubai and are a sheik or something it's just hard to believe that it's not rented IMO.

So yes social media is toxic and IMO is probably more likely to put someone in a bad mood than a good mood not just bc people show off like that, but politically it gets bad too like on twitter. People get into heated arguments with people they've never met, don't know, and never will meet on twitter and get literally mad over it.

Or your GF posting pics at the bar on snap and she positions the camera so there's a guy in the frame to make it seem like she met someone, when in reality it's nobody, and she just wants to see if you get jealous and react to see if you care.

The list never ends, frankly.

I gave up drinking tea.... ...I miss tea.....

I also told myself not to get so round up with issues anymore..
