I just thought I'd share a few things I did a couple days ago that seem to have improved the battery life on my iPhone 5.

Quick history: I bought my IP5 about a month ago. For the first few weeks the battery life was great. My typical day...get to work at 8:30am, battery at 100%, go to lunch around 1:00pm, battery life at 85-90ish%, charge over lunch back to 99-100%, back to work from 2:00-5:30pm, go home with battery right around 90%.

The last week or so I have noticed that my battery is down to about 75-80% or less by lunch, charge back to 98-99% at lunch, and then I'm back down to 75-80% when I get home at 5:30pm.

So I decided to make a few tweaks to improve my battery life and so far it has seemed to work.

First of all, I adjusted my notification center and removed the weather and stock widgets. They were kinda cool looking to have when I open Notification Center, but I rarely use the NC and having that data pushed out continually doesn't do your battery any favors. If I want to know the weather I'll just open the weather app or ask Siri. :)

Next, I changed my email from Push to Fetch (every hour). I'm able to do this because I don't really get any important emails. And if I'm expecting an email, I'll just go in and manually check it.

Next, I went into Siri and made sure "Raise to speak" was turned off.

Then, I think the most important thing I did, I went in and adjusted things on both the general Location Services and the System Services.

Location Services - I took a close look at the apps using my location, particularly those with a grey arrow next to them indicating that the app had requested my location in the last 24 hours, and turned as many of those off as possible (I kept on Facebook, Weather, Google Maps, Nike Running, and Siri).

System Services - I wasn't even aware of this section of Settings. In here I turned off everything except Call Network Search and Diagnostics & Usage as neither of them had a grey arrow next to them, so I'm guessing they don't request my location often or maybe ever? (though I could probably turn both of those off, too).

I left my screen brightness alone. I have always had it at max brightness and I am keeping it that way (yes, I know turning it out down would help battery life). Also, I keep my wifi on at all times, even when I'm not in an area with a wifi connection (too much of a hassle turning it on and off all the time).

These are just a few basic things that I have done and my battery life is noticeably better now. It's 10:30am...I'm usually down to 92-90% by now, but I'm still sitting at 98% (was still at 100% with normal useage about 30 min ago).
