It better take many hints from the MacBook line. Aluminum, black, no chrome.
Take the MacBook screen, shrink it and shove a phone in it.
Anyone else wan't it to look more like the MacBook?

Aluminum mostly likely isn't going to happen, and I hope they don't make it have an ultra-reflective screen like the Macbooks other than that I think it would look nice.

agreed, at least some aluminum.

sort of opposite of the MacBook: matte black with aluminum accents (such as the bezel, volume switch, hold button, etc)

it could be because the MacBook has a lot larger screen; reflecting more light, thus making it appear to be more reflective.

You can also more easily move the iPhone screen away from glaring light. I have an anti-glare cover on my iPhone that was easy to put on. Yeah, it's not as shiny or whatever, but the glare is severely reduced.

I want it to look more like the first iPhone. I totally hate the look of the white phone, and the black phone is barely tolerable looking. I also want to know that I can drop it and not have the case go kaboom, because that happened to me last night. I have some new knicks on the side, but it's still fully functional after a 4-foot drop onto a tile floor. Does the 3G's material handle that? If not, F it!

I seem to remember that when the macbooks came out everyone said they'd taken their design cues from the iPhone ie the shiny glass screen with the black bezel, so I'm not sure how they can make them that much more similar.

As for aluminium, alot of people are going to say it's unlikely because of metal blocking reception etc but I get EXCELLENT reception on my 2G and I prefer the aluminium iPods :)

Can anyone explain what people have against the chrome? I've never minded it

or else... what?

Aluminum means poorer signal reception.

No thanks.

I like the chrome, it's just that I like aluminum more :p

It would look quite cool if the speaker you listen to in call was hidden in some way. It would be eve cooler if they added a small iSight camera aswell! That would be amazing!

Does anybody have proof that aluminum degrades the signal at all? I have heard it shouted a lot on here, but I also remember all of the "we won't see an iPhone 3G until six months after a public FCC approval." That last part was bunk in 2008.

Of course aluminium has no noticeable affect on radio waves.

Aluminium macbooks have wifi and bluetooth in them with no problems.

For those who are citing the original iPhone as proof, their back was made of plastic (made to look like metal).

I agree completely that the chrome has got to go. I much prefer the looks of the 1st gen to the 2nd.

It does.

Chest-height of a 6'0" person onto concrete sidewalk:

(Crappy picture, I know)

Barely noticeable, right? I was pissed, but relieved at the same time that a drop to concrete resulted only in a tiny blemish.

Yeah, yeah. We've all heard this myth. There was a huge thread about it a long time ago, no need to restart it.

Your post couldn't be more wrong..

The macbook's wifi is in the hinge of the screen, which is plastic.

The back of the 1st gen iPhone was metal, which is why they had the black plastic butt.
