The ability to put an icon anywhere. I wish I could just put my icons in any pattern that I want on the desktop. Gridlock was a great jailbreak tweak. I don't know why Apple didn't pick it up.

I guess I like my ducks in a row. Overlapping icons would look like a dogs breakfast.

Overlapping? This is what gridlock lets you do. Put icons anywhere in the predefined apple grid

I wish there was no "Grid" and that apps were hidden, in a style kind of like LaunchPad on OS X. That way in the Dock there could be 4 apps, But with a gesture you can pull up the other apps, in a fashion like OS X...

Meh, pretty but seems wasteful. I'm guessing you're a Windows user.

You know what's a waste? When a beautiful wallpaper is blocked by a page full of icons. (and no, I dont want to put every icon I have in a folder to open up the view more)

Better yet allowing users the ability to hide icons to apps they never use:

I dunno,

newsstand
stocks
videos
compass
voice memos

that's my list of useless native apps

I say yes to that, sometimes a wallpaper needs some space and to look good, sometimes maybe only the middle two, I would be nice just drag it where ever you want with a predefine grid, just like in "Finder" you can put folders or icons the order you want.
