ok so what will happen if your iphone is stolen? anyone had this happen to? What did you do?

so you make a thread title implying something has happened that isn't possible to have happened, using the past tense. then your question is about a hypothetical situation?......wow

you can buy a new one at the full non-contracted price. that's it no exceptions

I would go into MobileMe, then the find my iPhone section and wait until it has pinpointed it's location then go rambo on who ever took it after i freak them out by sending messages to it.

english probably isnt his first language

Yeah

I was like.."How'd somebody get it and then get it stolen already?!?!?!?!?

Go easy man.. English is a tough language to master.. he is in France..

yes i know i use different tenses...

my main point of the question was if theft of iphones have been on the increase.....because you are essentially carrying a computer around with you

and that whole find my iphone thing.....so what if it shows it is at an apartment building with 200 apartments...what then would i do?

and yes me speak no English. Me speak iOrlando.

that's awful...have any of you guys heard the rumor Apple is coming out with a updated OS for the phones sometime this summer?

Just wondering:cool::cool::cool:

sorry man, I didn't notice you're from France.

In the case you just suggested, I would probably let the building manager or the front desk (if there is one) know about it and maybe tell the police as well. I'm not sure if either of those would help very much, but it's worth trying everything.

I would quarantine the building, and cover each exit with a person. Then I shoot tear gas into the hallways. As people run out, I would shoot the women and children with tranquilizers and have snipers take the men out as the ran out. I would then find the criminal and rape each member of his family in front of his dead body so his spirit can cry in hell..

j/k..

I would go to the address.. Call the cops and see if they come.. If they don't, I knock on the door and get my phone back..

can you file a police report for a stolen cell phone? Never did that before. Like call 911?

if you have mobile me, then you could send a reminder to the phone asking the person to return it, and even possibly say you know it i within an appartment building

then contact the police, showing them the map of where it is

DON'T call 911 (or another ermergency number), this is not an emergency
call the local police number or visit the nearest station

my phone got stolen and att didnt really care, they were just like "too bad we're sorry". if i wanted another phone i would of had to pay like 399 or something. luckily i have a business account so i got to get another 8gb one for 199 but i had to extend my contract.

Yeah because knocking on a thief's door sounds like such a good idea. Let the cops deal with it.

so from what i gather..this is very differnt then a 2001 nokia..where all you had to do was remove the battery and electronic card and the phone was basically yours...with the iphone..if you want..you can remote lock it? so its a brick for someone who stole it? and then i can say...this iphone has GPS and the police will be on their way please leave it outside at 1243 cuban st and i will pick it up without the police thanks.

Cops dont care about your iPhone.. Not here anyway. They are far too busy sitting staggered in the home depot parking lot conversing with each other to care..

Instead of spending hours contemplating what you will do if it gets stolen (which is sounding a bit suspicious if you ask me), you can just, you know, not be dumb? Keep it on you at all times, or lock it in a desk/locker when you leave it somewhere. I can't comprehend how people get their phone stolen, what are they doing? Leaving it on public tables and walking away? It makes no sense to me.

well specifically....

when i am at the clubs or bars...i tend not to leave stuff in my butt pockets due to vengabonds stealing from you or gypises...or i guess you call them pick pockets.

so i leave it in the front pocket..and i have fitted jeans and pants..so that leaves no room..and it could be easy for someone to grab and steal.

Maybe you should stop buying jeans that are two sizes too small! My phone is in my front pocket all the time and I've never had a problem with it falling out.

+1

Since when did wearing jeans that are skin-tight look good anyway? I think it looks ridiculous (on men anyway). For the love of god, get pants that fit properly.
