Many analysts suggest Apple will release the Iphone 6 in June 2014, around the same time period when Samsung releases the S5. Having upgraded to the 5s for a little more than half a year, would you be mad having to upgrade so early?

Personally I think June would be a good move for Apple. With the release of the 5s/5c, Apple regain it's #1 spot as the most activated smartphone. When the GS5 comes out in April/May, Apple will lose it's standing again to android devices if they plan to release the Iphone 6 in September. From a business stand point, releasing it in June would help Apple compete better.

Not really, but it depends on how much of an improvement the iPhone 6 (8th gen iPhone) is compared to the iPhone 5S

Also, lets say Apple announces the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6C, Would the year after be iPhone 6S and iPhone 6CS ????

Maybe you should stop listening to analysts. They're usually not accurate and most of them haven't a clue.
If the analysts are right, we'll have plenty of notice and time to get used to the idea on MR.

Many analysts ? Please provide links

Why would it be in issue. We get the usual moans about a 12 month cycle, we will get the moans about an 8 month cycle.

I think we should leave the marketing up to Apple.

I would love to see a iPhone 6 before this Chistmas!!!:p

No one makes you upgrade.

Keep them coming!!!:p

I think Apple will get back to June/summer releases eventually. They all were for iPhone until the 4S was delayed. I don't think it'd go down well if they did it for the release of the 6 though; with all the stock shortages, some might then only have the 5S for a few months before the 6 is released.

I don't see it happening anyways, unless they decoupled new hardware release from release of new versions of iOS (which wouldn't make sense to do, IMO). Generally they give developers a few months after WWDC to update apps, implement new features and such. And iOS 7 isn't even fully baked as it is. I'd rather not see them compress development time of iOS 8.

10 month upgrade cycles are welcome ... I don't see this 12 month cycle as the only option.

It would speed development up too

I think they will just call the best iPhone. "iPhone" and be done with the naming.

Nope, analysts have been saying the new iPhone will launch in the summer since it was pushed back to fall.

my iphone 52 is just 2 weeks old... and some are still waiting for their iphone to arrive, we are talking about iPhone 6 already.

What else is new?

That would be a smart move on Apple's part, the question is do they have the courage to do it. Having been very busy with law suits and other stuff, it's time they get serious and make iPhone 6 a significant new smartphone.

They may be too addicted to profit taking to do their best work. It takes money to create a fresh new phone, Apple may not want to make that investment. I must say I had no idea they feared Samsung so much until they made the "safe" choice to keep selling the same four year old design.

I dont't think it's so much about samsung, This year was a incremental update year not for just the iPhone. Look at the galaxy s4, Its a little bigger, a few more features you probably won't use and a spec boost. I think what you meant is the other way around samsung fears apple lol:D
