What if the cMBP had a retina display

Alright we all know that this will not happen hence the "what if" in the title.

But honestly what if Apple had included Retina on the cMBP? Would that have made anyone stick to the classic design?

I would have rather had a cheaper rMBP chassis without the 'r'.

If I wanted the older design, having a retina display isn't going to make a whole lot of difference.

The first thing I did when I got my cMBP was swap the optical for a 256GB SSD and then sigh when I realized that even though I bought a $2000+ machine I still had to make a pretty severe compromise by not getting their best screen.

For one thing it would have worse battery life. The rMBP has a bigger battery (95wh vs 77.5wh) to drive the higher res display and get the same 7 hour rated battery life.

agree, I love the new physical design, even tho it's not upgradable (ability to upgrade both memory and storage would be good)

I would take the retina screen on my cMBP.

The form factor of the rMBP without the retina display and upgradeable memory and hard drive would be enough to do it for me.
