I have an idea for the iPhone that Apple could implement in future models so they can save internal space for something like a bigger battery and/or a smaller plateau. They could have a 200MP ultra wide camera by merging the main and ultra wide. Make the sensor the same size or larger than a pro, and keep the sensor-shift. First of all, you can have the 0.5x lens obviously. Second, you can have a 50MP 1x and use pixel binning to preserve detail and improve low-light performance on the 1x lens. Third, there is the 12MP 2x that Apple hypes up.
I wouldn't see them doing this on the Pro, because some people may still prefer a dedicated 1x camera, but I could see them doing this on the Air or base non-pro model.
Anyone for this idea? Are there any problems with my theory? I'd like to hear some feedback.
