That way we can put whatever the heck we want on it and dongle-gate would be no more.

I would put an SD slot on the right and a Lightning port on the left.

Lightning is dead. The should have put a USB-C port on the iPhone7. Hopefully they will with the iPhone 7s or 8.

I agree it's dead and it'll be replaced by USB-C on the iPhone 8. But I'm not too keen on so many dongles. A dongle for my audio interface. A dongle for Lightning. A dongle for SD.

Too many dongles.
