YOU Found the 4g prototype at the bar, and being the savvy macrumors reader, you knew what it was. You decided to take it home with you because there was no way you were handing the 4g of to some manager.

You arrive home. You haven't looked at the phone. Immediately you email Steve (I heard his email address is public)

"Steve,
I picked up the 4g prototype, don't worry, it's safely hidden and I haven't even examined it, nor will (although was that a front facing camera that caught my eye?). Steve, you can personally reach me at XXX-XXX-XXXX.

Sincerely,
simgar

What happens? Does he call you? Does he have some nobody? Do they appreciate the extra scrutiny and throw you a free one when. It comes out? Or free Iphones for life??

Would you have handled it this way?

I would have launched a rumor site and that would have been my launch article.

I would have driven over to Apple Campus and asked for a personal audience with....Phil Schiller, then handed it over to him. I say Phil because he's more likely to give a crap about the effort I'd gone to in getting the phone back than Steve, and I might get a new MacBook out of it :)

I would have kept it till June 7th....

and be outside WWDC and showing it to people outside...

hey look!!!! hey look! it's a time machine!:D

Wow! You could do a whole terminAtor grand entry and real get people to believe it!!!

Id call up RIM, Microsoft, HTC, Google, DELL, and Palm and sell to the highest bidder.

Seriously though I really wouldnt know what to do. Id probably just keep it.

More likely you will receive a visit from an attorney who will threaten you with all kinds of legal action if you don't hand it over right NOW! Asking for anything in return would be viewed as extortion - you're in a no-win situation.

I like Apple's products, but as a company, they are ruthless.

Emailing Steve would be pretty cool. He may even appreciate the fact that you handled it just the way you did.
