I've seen a "Twelve South compass".
What do you think?

I have a Satechi R1 stand, got it at amazon. It's a little pricey at like $45 but it's the best stand I've ever used. Using it with my Rmini now, used it with my iPad 4 before. Love it.

Zman I have had the Wave stand for approx. a year, it is GTG, very robust/solid, thus no regrets w/ it.

Not mentioned by you but I just returned a BelkinFlip Blade that I had high hopes for as a supplement to my Wave. It did not lock into place w/ out some slight play, possibly due to the locking mechanism being plastic trying to interact w/ the metal base.

I am going to pull the trigger on the Satechi R1, thx. kalt.

I want both of those stands. Looks very solid and built very well. Expensive though. I am getting a few Though Out Stands for sample to review on amazon.
This is from the email they sent me:
1. Reconditioned* Stabile PRO Pivoting iPad Stand - Silver (ASIN B005H3B4KU)
2. Grapple PRO (ASIN B0062DHBLK) - Accessory for Stabile PRO above
2. Reconditioned* PED3-U iPhone Stand (ASIN B0037YVZXW)

I went for the Griffin Tablet stand bcos it was cheap, however it only really has one position, so I went a little expensive and got the Incipio FIXIE, I really like that stand.

More Frustration So .........

After posting this earlier > " I am going to pull the trigger on the Satechi R1 " my search continues.

The Satechi arrived from Amazon w/ a slight wobble in the base + the base edges were finished poorly & there were some scuff marks as well on it.

Back to my search, the design of the Satechi was good the execution was not, glad I already have the Wave.

Looks great but lacks the functionality you can get at that that price range IMO.

Eh? It's a stand that functions as a stand, what other functionality do you want? It has multiple viewing angles and is very stable. I used it with my heavy ipad 3 on a rickety old train getting shook all over the place and there was no hint of it falling over :)

I see it only has 2 viewing angles. I like the color choice though:)
If you like it that's great. I am not here to argue if we even were:)

Guys, I'm a frequent lurker and semi-frequent contributor to the forum.

I have a pretty simple but unique iPad stand on Kickstarter right now. We've already hit our funding goal but it sounds like you all might like to check it out.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/finegrain/the-coburns-ipad-stands

It's compact and provides unlimited viewing angles. Really fun to play with as well.

@Zmanbaseball2 i think this is better than all and is around half the price of the $90 version from the three you are being sent.

the kickstarter finished, i missed out, does anyone know where i can buy one from?

I would never buy a stand for over $20 but since I am reviewing them I will be happy to review them for free:) those stands I am getting are very expensive. I think the Satechi R1 is better than any of the Thought Out Stands.

This does not allow cases...

Correct. It's designed for users who don't have a full-time case on their iPad. (People who use sleeves, etc)

A lot of our backers also use the Smart Cover but don't love the stand functionality of it.
