Hi,

What app would you like to see on your iPhone 3G? I personally would love a landscape SMS keyboard

Hi,

The App Store already has this...about 50 of these apps.

http://appshopper.com/utilities/sms-email-landscape-big-keyboard-isms

http://appshopper.com/utilities/freedom-messaging

http://appshopper.com/productivity/sms-touch

http://appshopper.com/social-networking/easy-message-lite

But, as firewood points out, these do not actually send out texts through your SMS app, but through the internet. This is good (doesn't count as a text sent) and bad (when people reply to it, their message doesn't go to back to your SMS app, but into your email). Jailbreak if you don't want this restriction.

Are you asking about apps that use only Apple's SDK API's as well as comply with all the other rules for what is acceptable for their App store?

If so, all SMS variations are currently off the list.

.

Not an app, but I just want to see PUSH come out which would make IMs useful.

Yes, then we wouldn't even have to bother with text plans then. I wonder if the carriers are the culprits actually restricting push? As soon as we get push, there is no need to use SMS anymore.

My old RAZR could do PUSH AIM, although it was not as full featured and texting friendly as the iPhone. I doubt this would be a reason as to why it has been delayed so. Surely Apple would not promise it to the world, only to have AT&T come from behind and tell them no. Apple has had their way thus far. If my RAZR can do it, I would think my iPhone could. But my RAZR can also go 4 days without charging, send MMS messages, voice dial, PUSH AIM, and possessed a decent speakerphone.

iWork '09 Portable/DocsToGo/OpenOffice Portable
Opera for iPhone or FireFox for iPhone
MMS App
Video Recorder

On non jailbroken iPhones

Scottrade
Wells Fargo
Dope Wars (or Drug Wars)
SlingPlayer - just takes time right?
Black's Law Dictionary - West Publishing could make a killing from attorneys and law students on this one!

Try sending them an e-mail asking them if they have any plans for it and also reminding them of the above statement.

I hope I'm wrong, but Apple may try to feed us the fee-based iWork cloud crap in order for us to get this ability.

Tomtom or a proper nav app,be it co-pilot or garmin.

Its the one thing im missing from my previous win mobiles.

Funny you mention this. I have a lawyer friend who told me the exact same thing. :)

the one in the G1 commercial -- you take a picture of a product's barcode and that does an inventory search to find where it can be found and the selling price.

that would be sick!

That exact app, ShopSavvy, is currently being held hostage in the App Store approval process. Don't hold your breath though, it has been there for many months.

Just read the description of the first app:

1. You can send SMS messages to multiple recipients at the same time (you save money and time).

Are they high? Sure you save time, but not money.

But yeah... I'd like to see MMS and Copy/Paste just so everyone shuts the hell up and stops creating useless threads on these topics.

Id love this aswell as thought the app on the g1 was brilliant.

Is the cam actually good enough though to focus in on the barcode do you think?

No, the cam is not good enough. You would need some kind of external magnifying lens like a Griffin Clarifi.

You probably should have took an extra 20 seconds of your life (and if you're on a message board, we know you have it) and read the whole description. This app, like the other ones, sends your text over the internet, not through your carrier. So, if you get charged per text you send, this app will indeed save you money.

I'd like to see these apps/features made officially by apple:

- Video recording application
- Adjustable stills camera (exposure, etc)
- Ability to create folders and manage photos in the Photos app.

[MESSAGES]
Landscape email and sms

[OS]
- Ability to change icons and icon names (some apps have absolutely terrible ones)

Is there a GTA game app?

That would be delicious. I haven't thought to look.

On that note, I'd like to see game publishers start to release their catalog's on the platform as best as they could. You would think they would see ROMs as a demand for their works and follow that demand. Sorta like Nintendo.

I would like to see a Quicken app that syncs with the desktop version on a PC.

I can dream too. :D

theming your iphone (i know legally impoosible)

copy and paste (clippy and Hclipper works fine)

mms would be nice

video recording

how about ladscape springboard mode? (another near impossibility)

Gonna address strictly App Store contenders, here. Not JBed stuff.

I'd love to have Video Hound's Golden Movie Retriever in full, in offline format, so you're not dependent on cell signal to view it. They had a Palm version.

Metro is supposed to be porting an iPhone version of their great Palm app soon. Great offline public transportation resource.

I'd love a bigger selection of ebooks, preferably free, similar to http://memoware.com/ for Palm.

PalmaSutra. ;)

Can you tell I'm a Palm switcher...?

A themes app!! Make it ten dollars then make every theme 99 cents!! Emulators nes, snes, genesis the system costs twenty then the games range from 99 cents to ten dollars

Gps

I would love it if there was a Garmin app for the iPhone. This is the one thing I wish the phone had. Other than that, I am very happy with it.
