Welcome
3G refers to the phone using 3rd generation technology for data communications.

Oh, and use the Search function next time. This has been answered many many times already.

It refers to 3G (3rd generation) wireless data technology, which operates at a much, much faster rate than the current iPhone's EDGE (2G - 2nd gen) technology. It would allow more WiFi-like speeds with mobile browsing, compared to EDGE's current dial-up level speeds.
