What is a free recording software for Mac?

I am trying to make some audiobooks.

Audacity doesn't seem to work with Mavericks.

Have you tried Quicktime?

Open it, File > New Audio Recording > Hit Record

Very easy

You can select a device to record with by pressing that little arrow to the right of record, I assume you're using a microphone if you're going to be recording something like that.

Audacity is working fine on my copy of Mavericks. Have you checked for updates?

Audacity also works fine with me from Mavericks.
Should be latest version, which I think is still 2.0.5

I also have 2.0.5 but it says Critical Nyquist files could not be found. I want to click ok and proceed but the ok button doesn't work.


Thanks, I'll try Quicktime. Is there a way to re-record a portion of your recording when you make a blunder?

That Critical Nyquist files error is easy:

(you haven't copied the Audacity folder to your hard drive )
Audacity is one of those apps that won't run successfully directly from the mounted disk image.
