If I let them know that I don't work or in debt will they let me contract free without an etf?

I assume you have an iphone with ATT.

Best easy way to get out of ETF is just to resell your iPhone to pay your own ETF. There's no cheating, lying to do this.

iPhones have very high resell value. If you have an iphone 3GS (before June 2010), your ETF is $175- $5 (per month) of contract.

If you have an iphone 4 (after June 2010), your ETF is $325- $10 per month.

You can still easily get $250 for an iphone 3GS depending on condition.

You can still easily get $450-600 for iPhone 4 depending on condition and 16/32GB.

It's really easy just to resell your iphone and move on. I don't know why people "need to get out of their ETF"

They likely just want to sell their phone and use it to buy their new phone.

If the OP had credit, it would ruin it if they just walked away.

Doing the honorable thing, like pay the ETF, just does not occur to some people these days.

Man up and sell your current iPhone, then pay the ETF fee. You should have a little bit left over if you want to migrate over to VZW. Unless of course you don't work and are in debt.

Sell to who and how?

Just pay the ETF, it's not very complicated. Nor is it the end of the world, really as it's not that much money especially for somebody who chooses to pay at minimum $80 a month for a cell phone.

I know. While $325-$10/month is still a lot of money. People just want a fully subsidized phone without living up to their end of the bargain.

People need to realize the subsidy ATT is giving them or else they could just pay $600/700 full retail price and be without a contract.

Come one guys, the iphone has a tremendous resale value. Just resale and pay the ETF and move on.

Is "how to cheat and lie" required reading in schools these days? How about paying the ETF on the contract you willingly signed and go from there?

There's going to be tons of threads like this now on how to get off my AT&T contract for free or how to get off my Verizon contract so I dont have to pay full price to upgrade to the Verizon iphone.
Stop trying to pull a scam and honor the contract that you agreed to.
Pay the ETF and move on with your decision.
Dont you think carriers are aware of what people will try to pull or you think you're the only one that thought of it?

Just post your iphone to craigslist for a reasonable price. You will get offers. Almost guarantee you.

Used iPhones are in demand. Unless you have an old iPhone 3g (if that's the case, you should almost be done with your contract anyways) but can still get $100-150 for used iphone 3g but your ETF would still be less than $100 if you were still using an iphone 3G.

It doesn't matter what carrier, you're under contract & locked in. Want out? Write them a check.

Move out of the country, join the military and get deployed overseas, or die.

Or pay the damned ETF and stop trying to get out of a contract that you signed.
