I have 1.85gb of other on my iPhone, but I'm not sure if thats a normal amount considering i have 6 gb of music and 5 gb of apps. Just curious.
I don't know but I'm curious, too. I got a 128GB iPhone 6 and specifically set it up as a new phone without restoring from backup so that I could try to get rid of the wasted "Other" space (which was at 2.25 GB or so). After setting up the phone as new with no added apps/media it was still at 2.25 GB.
I did sign in to iCloud, though. Hmm, I wonder if it's related to that somehow. I'm not one of those that keeps entire messages history, though. I keep a light footprint with that kind of thing.
I really wish there was a way to see exactly what that pesky "Other" stuff actually was! But we can't be trusted to be exposed to the filesystem...
Edit to add: I know that space on the size phone I got isn't a big deal, it's the principle of the thing. And it has a tendency to balloon over time and I don't know why.
my plus has 3.20, 5s was 1.7ish...no clue what it is, sucks
If this is what you mean, you see it in iTunes, when you have your phone connected.Where do you find that other?
did you set up as new or back up i set up as new and only loved into my iCloud.

At one point, the size of the pictures/video in the Messages app was part of "Other". I could usually reduce the size of "Other" by deleting all of my Messages (because in older versions of iOS, everything was kept forever). Glad that iOS 8 has an option to delete old Messages after 30 days, if you want!
