I'm interested to find out when a file was created on my disc.

For example: I've just downloaded a zip file. Reading file info, I see the zip file was created today on my hard drive, but the content of unzipped file shows creation date 21 March. I dont know if it applies only to zipped files or not, and I think this makes harder to keep track of files, or to find it easier sometimes.

Files inside a zip file retain their specific file information. The zip file itself was downloaded and therefore just created on your machine so it has a different date than the files within.

Is there a way to find when I file was downloaded/created on my disc ?

You can keep track of that kind of info by selecting view options for any folder.

You downloaded it today, therefore it was created today.

That's not always true. I haven't experimented enough to know the pattern, but, for example, if you go to this post, right-click on the image and select "Download Linked File", the creation date is the date the file was created, not the date it was downloaded onto your system.

Not for me, it shows creation date as the download time. Using Firefox or Safari.
