What conference on the eighth? What supposed conference on the ninth? Nothing has been said.
The "free" iPod is old stock. They give them to students to make room for the new iPods. EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR.
Nothing will affect the MacBook or MacBook Pro. Unless they've found a way to shoehorn Clarksfield in there. We'll see.

The September keynote will not have anything to do with the Notebook line. That usually happens in October/November.
Lets first say this, they give away free iPods because they need to get rid of old inventory for the new iPods. They stop giving them away because they have new ones and why would they give new iPods away for free?

Haha, so true about the free iPod. I love reading threads in September about people who are all angry because their "free" iPod is outdated
Still a good deal though if you're buying a new Mac anyways.
Regarding the conference, nothing is official, but this, too, has repeated itself in the past...
I stand corrected, the ninth. I was thinking that perhaps they would have a new promotion to replace the iPod. Perhaps not....
