From today's press conference.

"We're going to send you a free case. We can't make enough bumpers. No way we can make enough in the quarter. So we're going to source some cases and give you a choice."

So probably more than just bumpers will be covered.

But your case from AT&T probably won't be covered:
Q: Will the refund include third party cases?
A: There's a very small number of third party cases out there. So no.

I'm sure all these questions will be addressed by late next week.

AT&T will allow you to return the case up to 30 days after purchase.

i like how people generally had no problem paying for their case when they bought it but now feel entitled to a refund

Not true at all. We are all going to get free cases from Apple anyway, but if we already have a case we like, then the free case is somewhat of a waste. What do you do with two cases? You can't use them both at the same time. It would be nice if Apple would reimburse people for what they already paid for. I don't think they could do that though, as it would be very difficult to track.

What if you bought the BUMPER at AT&T (not a 3rd party case)? Will Apple still refund that? or only if you bought the bumper at the apple store or online?

Bumpers only sold directly through Apple. No third party reseller. Those who purchased through ebay SOL.
