so i was wondering how this girl edited her video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDuq1h6wx8M

and she said she did everything in Imovie? How is that possible? i didnt know imovie could create graphics like that in the intro & also all the various special effects throughout the video. Can all of that be done in imovie?

iMovie alone could not create those graphics. Looks to me like she used Kinemac (which many people got for dirt cheap during last year's MacHeist) and put it to good use. I never used it, but a lot of their demos look exactly like the intro she used. I didn't watch the whole thing, but the transitions I saw could definitely be done at least in iMovie HD ('06), not sure about iMovie 08 or 09 since I refuse to use that and have since moved on to FCP. BTW, she's hot. Haha!

She obviously created the graphics etc in another program. She prolly edited all of those together and exported in imovie.

Imovie 06 can do that special transitional effect @ 0:36 seconds?

do u think she created the intro from scratch or from pre-made video montages?

also can someone please take a look at the 10:58 mark into the video (ive included the time jump in the folllowing link so u wont have to sit thru 10 minutes) it should start automatically at the requested 10:58 mark right when u click it

do u see how she holds up that makeup thing to the palm of her hand and the video automatically macro focuses on the object?
is that a feature of the camcorder itself or is that a product of video editing?

I film and edit my own videos using my macbook pro.

She could be running FCP, Premiere, After Effects...

Notice how she holds up her palm? That's so the camera then shifts its autofocus from her face to her palm and, because it's right next to it, her lash makeup brush thingy.

She certainly knows how to use her stuff. Nicely done.

Technique is definitely more than half the battle!

Kinemac - 3D Real Time Animation software

FCP - editing application

After Effects - compositing and animation program

Premiere - editing application

ok heres another video with very similar graphics to the first one i posted

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLbbbRKCFmM

would you say the intro graphic used in this video is most likely done by kinemac, fcp, after effects or premiere?

1) Yup. In iMovie '06 (aka iMovie HD) this was called Zoom Blur. It was located in the Video FX tab with other Quartz Composer effects.

2) Again, my guess is the intro is a pre-made template from something like Kinemac, but that's just my guess. :D

Keep at it, VideoNewbie!

After Effects, possibly just a template they bought and changed the text on.
