By coincidence I looked at my mobile applications folder today and discovered seven supposed app that had no reference to an app name shown in iTunes:

LUHL.ipa
TLZE.ipa
PNDU.ipa
XSDJ.ipa
EZAT.ipa
MUTG.ipa
QMWP.ipa

They were all created/modified on the same date and time in 2010.

They are no apps that I ever downloaded or installed. What are these? Do you want to check your iTunes>Mobile Apps folder if you have similar strange things in there?

Also there is no mention on the web of these things.

Some new insight: These .ipa files seem to have to do with certain iPhone/iPad apps. Their payload refers to apps and images related to these apps. It does not seem to be a cache. Can anybody explain their function?

Thanks
