Look for a similar model on eBay and then subtract a few bucks to cut your friend a break:)

Mac2sell isn't a very accurate reference. You're incorrect on the model. There is no 2011 15" listed at 2.7 ghz on spec sheets. There is a 2012 model like that but no 2011. Without the upgrades I would say under $1000. With them I'm not sure. No one that knows a thing about Macs would buy that for $1800, because you can get much more for that amount of money buying a refurbished unit from Apple with a full warranty. I wouldn't personally pay above $900 for one of that era even with the upgrades. On ebay with "similar" specs (upgraded ram, ssd, 2011 15" model) they varied between $900 and $1300 on sold listings. I suspect part of that is due to buyers outside the US where new Macs cost significantly more money. Otherwise $1300 is very high.
