I've searched google, searched this forum, searched apple support to find out what is "safari networking"? I have not seen that before when I have ran Safari before. I have posted this question a couple of other place but didn't receive a reply, so I thought I'd try a new post and see if I could get some help.

With the new Safari upgrade I would like to use the new Safari as my browser but the "safari network" is chewing up data faster than Firefox and Chrome .. much faster.

I have to watch what I use because of my monthly data limits. I thought after running Safari earlier today for a few hours, there wasn't much difference compared to the 4 hours this morning that I ran Chrome as my browser.

So this morning I did a test and watched the results in the Activity Monitor that is always open.

Safari - only 1 tab open
Chrome - 5 tabs open
Firefox - 5 tabs open

I used the same websites on each browser, loading them in succession as I changed sites. For 1 hour I had the following results:

Safari Networking - 20.9mb received - 1.0mb sent
Chrome - 4.5mb received - 694kb sent
Firefox - 8.8 mb received - 649kb sent

Safari itself had only 748kb received.

So what is the 'safari network"?
Is it needed? Can it be deleted? If so, how?

Thanks for your help.
