how much real memory do you normally observe safari 3.0.4/webkit nightly use? w flash and w/o flash, 2-5 tabs?

The thing is Mac OS X will allocate as much as it reasonable can to each app, so if you only have Safari running it will chuck a lot at it.

I have 3 windows, one with three tabs and a real player steam playing. Activity Monitor is giving me ~202 MB real and ~1.2 GB virtual.

I have 7 other apps open, including Activity Viewer and Finder.

i do understand that when you have more physical memory, it would take more. So by no means I expect this to be a precise summary.

I didn't know OSX will allocate memory actively to each app? Isn't it suppose to passively allocate memory upon request?

2 Windows

Window 1: 15 tabs with 2 youtube videos, forum spy, general threads
Window 2: No tabs BBC iPlayer

Memory ~260MB

Granted this is with the latest webkit (r30354) and yesterday this would've used ~320-400MB
