Hi

Have searched on the net without luck for this already.

My 2008 MBP running 10.7.2 (Lion) was getting very hot, so I checked the activity monitor and noticed that SFLicontool was using 99% of the CPU, had 2178 threads running, and gobbling up 2.84 GB of memory.

I tried to quit the process from the activity monitor, but it couldn't stop SFLicontool from running.

I tried to turn the MBP off, but it refused to shut down - I eventually had to pull the power.

Has now rebooted and there is no sign of SFLicontool in the activity monitor.

Anyone know what it is?

Thanks in advance.

There are several threads about this on the apple forums. Start with a google search for "sflicontool mac"

Thanks for that.

I tried all of those this morning before coming to MacRumors - unfortunately none of them identify exactly what sflicontool is and what it is doing.

Just had this problem again: SFLicontool taking up 3gb of memory and 99.9% of CPU!!!

Anyone know what it is? Icon related, presumably, but what is it doing using up so many resources?
