Hi,

I am on 10.13.6 and noticed Soundflower (2ch/64 ch) output option. I am listening via Headphones and suddenly cannot adjust volume using function keys(volume +/-) as I had for a long time.

I have tried some of the remedies suggested such as sudo killall coreaudiod and restarting machine.

Any idea why soundflower is showing up? I didn't install any audio or video apps.

Thanks.

Well, Soundflower is an inter-application audio "bus". You use it to record the sound output from one application (by setting its output to 'Soundflower') to another (by setting its input to "Soundflower").

Google "uninstall soundflower" for removal instructions (its a kernel extension, not an app as such so it may need deleting manually).

How it got installed is a mystery - something must have put it there.

I looked at removal instructions and looked for the soundflower kext file in extensions but there is nothing there with soundflower.

i also looked in other directories and only found two files in receipts folder. I deleted those and got back volume up/down control. I would like to delete soundflower options in sound menu.

Are you using an external monitor? Some other peripheral that could use soundflower as its default? Maybe installed some app to optimize sound for your headphones or to record sound from your mac?. It seems strange

last time i installed it, they needed to update their certificate.
