What is stored on SIM verses phone?

I get a bit confused over what is stored where on the iphone.

Is it texts are stored on the SIM and not on the phone, whereas music is stored on phone? Contacts stored part of SIM, part on phone? etc. etc.

Anyone know what data is stored where?

i dont think anything is on an iphone. on old nokia phones, you could store up to 250 contacts on a SIM. but there is no option to do so on the iphone. the SIM just has your account info so your phone can register on the cell network.

For the iPhone nothing is stored on the sim. It's all on the phone.
Just your account info and network info is on the sim.
