I am currently not under contract and own my iPhone 7 (unlocked) outright. I was looking at deals on the iPhone 11 Pro, and it seemed like T-Mobile had a good offer going with $350 in credits over 24 months, but now I see that Verizon is offering $500 in credits, plus a $200 gift card (after 2 months). Both wireless service/data plans would cost me in the vicinity of $70/month. What am I missing? Is the Verizon offer that much better, or is there fine print that I'm overlooking?

Thank you.

Not sure if you needed one or two lines but I had three lines. I paid off all 3. Ordered 2 iPhone XR for my kids. For 320 bucks after tax. Also got two iPhone pro max for 1498 after credits plus a 300 dollar Visa card. Also traded in my 2 iPhone 8 Plus that I was previously going to hand down to my kids for 450. Didn’t make sense to give them 8 plus when I could save 75 per phone and get them Xr’s. So all in all after trade in, credits and Visa cards I paid 1068 for 2 Xr and 2 iPhone pro max.

The Verizon deal seems legit to me. I am making the switch to them from AT&T, I already have FiOS too so I am familiar with Verizon customer service.

From what I understand, the Verizon $70 Start Unlimited data plan has questionable data speeds since they reserve the right to toggle you down whenever, and it is thus used as a bit of a ploy to get people to upgrade to their higher-tier offerings, which start at $80 per month. Hence, it's definitely not an apples-to-apples comparison, but it might be more reasonable to compare their $80/month offering to the $70/month one from T-Mobile. The $10/month of course translates into $240 over the life of the contract, but maybe I am giving this too much thought?

Is this for Verizon? I'm kind of confused on the math here.

The Apple store refunded me $400 directly to my debit card for trading in my X

Att retention program has $450 off ANY iPhone including iPhone 11 pro max on 2 year contract. So $1099 iPhone pro max will be $650 on contract.

I did this. Upgraded 4 of our lines and bought 4 iPhone 11s for $450 off each.

I helped a friend do this on his ATT account. He needed a phone but couldn't afford the full price. Worked out great for him & his situation. I would have done it, but didn't want to be "tied" to ATT for 2 years with a locked phone.

yeah. I would have done the retention deal also but my son was adding a new line.

so the bogo ($700 credits spread over 30 months) plus $400 gift cards from sams club was an even better deal for me

but for those not adding new lines. Att retentions (for current customers) is the way to go if u happy with att service.

and it’s not as expensive as people think especially with 4 plus lines unlimited plus hotspot plus hbo/showtime/STARZ choices

my brother is paying $200/6 lines with att unlimited and hotspot and free hbo. It’s literally what prepaid is for unlimited data

$33/line. Even if u include 20% bogus taxes. It’s less than $40/line. On par with prepaid but with post paid benefits (priority access to cell towers, more promos to buy phones. (Routinely see$200–250 gift card promo for current lines especially during holidays, no new line needed)

Call customer service and ask for loyalty department. We called Tuesday night and had the phone delivered on Thursday. Ordered 3 more phones today. Should ship sometime next week.
Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm fixing to pay off my current phone and then I'll try that route.

Hi, can you please tell me where you’re getting this kind of phone deal from? I was going to take your advice for people “not adding new lines,” and look for the ATT Retention deal,” but then I saw your breakdown of what you and your brother pay for 6 lines! I almost pay that for 2 lines, with phones paid off!

For TWO lines w ATT we pay:
$175.30/mo for unlimited calls, texts, and data, for two lines, and we share the unlimited data.

That breaks down this way:
$60 for “shared plan charges;” ie unlimited data; ~$66 total w taxes.
$40 for “access to iPhone 4G LTE w VVM” x2 lines; $51.01 and $51.99 total w taxes.

We don’t have HBO or anything like that either...

How do you pay so little for your services?? PLZ, share your wisdom lol

Thank you!!

call att “retentions”. Dial 611 and ask for “loyalty department”. It should transfer you over to their department. Or do it via online att chat after login in.

the breakdown is this

unlimited more and premiums (with hotspot plus att watch tv35 channels (only one stream at a time). Plus your choice of hbo/showtime/starz/Spotify

$100 base
$35 each line

2 lines equals $170 plus taxes.

where y are getting screwed is u aren’t getting the muti line discount
3 lines ($15 multi line discount)
4 or more lines ($30 discount)

“Multiple Phone Line Discount: Monthly $15 (3 phone lines) for both plans, $35 (4 or more phone lines on &More) or $30 (4 or more phone lines on &More Premium) discount applied to your plan charge”

$20 auto pay disxount
So 2 lines with auto pay should cost u $150/2 lines

att retentions can get u an additional $10 off per line

so u should be paying $130/2 lines if u call them

But the big savings is when u move up to 4 lines with att retentions.

$100 base
$35/line x 4 ($140)

equals $240

Now is where the real savings comes

att retentions will give u $10 off per line

so 4 lines means $40 off each month

since u have 4 lines u will get $30 off muti line discount (this is standard diacount)

plus the $20 auto pay

so essentially that $240 bill once the discounts are applied will cost u $150/4 lines with hotspot and hbo!

I know it sounds strange. But it truly only cost u $20/extra a month to move from 2 lines to 4 lines with att retentions.

Whatever you do, don't trade in any phones where you have to mail them off. They can be perfect condition and they'll find some reason to jack you around. Even if they send them back, you're locked into some gift cards a couple months from now or a per-month credit for a BOGO.

Or worse case like me, they decide they don't like the antenna config of your phones and they give you $50 instead of $600 with no recourse.

Thanks Verizon, I won't be around for long! Oh and I'll never be back.
Thanks Apple for making 2 versions of the A1549/A1522 because that's not confusing to anyone!

Even better, they are claiming they were expecting the gimped GSM version so they devalued when they received full-antenna phones that will work on any network.

Seriously, you are a genius...

This will take a few minutes for me to take this all in, but you’re saving my life (read: bank acct) majorly.

Thank u!!! I was actually toying w the idea of activating one of my old phones to use as my work phone...I’m basically an independent contractor, and my personal phone is exploding w all my personal and business stuff on one device. Could that multi line thing you described work if I did that? I really only need a few functions for the work phone; text, pictures, app for pic collages, some social media. Would that fit the multi line plan? Someone told me I should just get some virtual number that works on WiFi only...not sure what the name was?

Anyway, sorry, I tend to ramble lol. I’m just sooo bad at all of this, so I really appreciate the help!!

I’ll let you know how it goes, fingers crossed!
