Considering buying a stainless steel Apple Watch. Not sure if I want the regular stainless steel or if I want the gold stainless steel version.

I’ll include a photo of the polishing cloth I have from the Cape Cod brand. I’m wondering if this product is only applicable for the regular stainless steel version or if it’ll work for the gold stainless steel version as well without damaging the gold color aspect.

Or perhaps there is another solution that I am not privy to

You cannot polish the gold or black stainless Steele watches due to the diamond coating. The regular SS can be polished with that cloth.

I have had 2 different gold SS watches over the years, I cannot see any scratches. It is possible to scratch, but if anything they usually are micro scratches that would take holding it up to your face to see. Even my original Silver SS Series 0 apple watch doesn't need polishing.

I have worn the gold watches everyday, only to take it off to charge. Never had a problem.

Picked up an Ultra, and already have a couple nicks. The Gold SS finish is definitely more durable than the Ultra. But I love the Ultra.

As the last poster said, if you really want to polish your Apple watch (which I have never needed to), you will have to go regular sliver SS.

Unless it is a DLC coated Apple Watch there is no “diamond coating”. The gold finish can and will be removed by a CapeCod cloth.

crazy I had no idea.

I love the gold stainless steel version but now I think I’ll stick to regular stainless steel.

-I run mine under the faucet with a soft tooth brush and a tiny amount of dishwashing soap, to dissolve the oils, about once a month to just clean. Daily when I remove, I wipe both side with a microfiber cloth. This is just for cleaning.

Because the gold is an applied finish to the stainless, you should not polish it in any way or you will remove the gold finish.

I find the gold stainless really appealing but wish I could clean it with the cape cod polishing cloth but not if it’ll remove the finish.

Why toothbrush and dishwashing soap with the gold stainless steel? Is this some sort of industry insider tip?

No industry insider tip, it is what I have used for years and years on my Apple watch with good results. Humans are nasty. You can’t get all the sweat and oils from the human body off your watch by just wiping, so you need to use some type of solvent to dissolve the body oils and salt. Use very little soap.

The gold finish is only microns thick so do not polish or you will damage it. Left alone it should look great for a few years.

I have had 2 Gold SS watches. I never felt the need to polish them. The coating is very hard. I would not hesitate to get it again (if the Ultra was available in gold, I would get it today).
