I am looking at Netgear CMD31T, just because of its colour.

I have cable Internet. I have a wireless modem-router from my service provider (Kabel Deutschland). It has output for a telephone line, and maybe I would like to use my included phone line one day or at least keep that option.

But I do not want a wireless router, that I am leaving my Time Capsule take over.

Should I check with my service provider before changing router?

Thanks for your help!

If you are not comfortable assessing compatibility yourself, definitely check with your provider before changing out. On the other hand, I'm not sure you need to change it out just to ditch wireless. Have you tried shutting off the wireless feature on your cable modem?

You need to verify what modems are appropriate for usage on their network. The router does not matter and the Time Capsule will work just fine. Over here, I use a Motorola SurfBoard SB6121 with a 6th generation AirPort Extreme and it is a fantastic combo. I highly recommend the Motorola SurfBoard line of modems if they are available where you are and allowed on your ISP's network.
