Hi!
I've had an iPod touch 2gen 16GB for almost 2years now. I wanted to upgrade for iPod touch 4gen, but after it came out, I've decided the added features are decreased in quality so much that I think it's not worth upgrading. That's why I've ordered 3rd gen 32GB MC008 model for a bargain price.

Now, I've had no problems jailbreaking 2nd gen as it was done very easy (non-MC model) using redsnow application. I want to jailbreak my 3rd gen when it arrives too. Since it's a different gen, and an MC model, I know redsnow would not jailbreak it anymore. So what options do I have, what is currently the latest iOS version possible to JB on this iPod touch? What's the best and easiest method to jailbreak 3rd gen MC model? Also, I would like to prevent iOS from multitasking, as I don't need it and think it slows down the device. Thanks for any advices! :)

Today I got my brand new iPod touch 3gen 3.1.3 MC model. Problem is, whenever I try to JB by going to jailbreakme.com in Safari, iPod restarts. I've tried several times with no success :/ Also, when I tried to upgrade my touch to 4.0 or 4.01 firmware, a mesage from iTunes popped up saying "unable to restore firmware, error nr 1394". Anyone help?

I jailbroke about 10 peoples ipods (from 1st gens to your model, because that's what I owned) using Spirit.

http://spiritjb.com/

Download, plug ipod in, and click jailbreak. 3.1.3, 3.1.2 and 3.2. If you need help let me know

Thanks for the inormation :)
Too bad I've already upgraded my iPod to the latest software version from iTunes (4.1). I guess I'll wait for the JB for that iOS version anyways... Any iOS below 4.0 is no interest to me, since it lacks many features (iBooks, games campatibility, etc). Wonder when they finally gonna releas JB for 4.1 and hopefully 4.2 very soon?

The dev team will most likely release the jailbreak when iOS 4.2 comes out. They also said that they found an exploit in the A4 chip itself. So if this is true, then the next jailbreak will be a bootrom jailbreak.

Update through iTunes to get genuine iOS software.

After restore, open up Limera1n and run it. Follow instructions on screen, you will need to be on standby. There are some important keystorkes to make.

Install Cydia using Limera1n app and delete afterwards.

Enjoy :)
