What is the best way to replace my Iphone 3G?

My current Iphone 3G is pretty dinged up all around and i was hoping to pick up a new one somewhere, however, since i'm only 6 mo into my current contract i can't do it at the apple store.
What are my options?

If i buy one off ebay, how do i activate it and deactivate my current one?

u buy it then add the sim to it.. or take it to a cingular store. Its not a major deal to change ur iphone to another.

I'd wait until June and feel out your options. You could also nit-pick for dust under the screen or light leak and exchange at Apple Store.
