What is the best way to sync calendar between Mac and iPhone?

Hello, I have a rMBP 15" 2012 and an iPhone 6s Plus. What is the best way to sync the calendar of these two devices when: (1) there is an internet connection (2) there is no internet connection

When there is an internet connection, your calendars will sync automatically. They both share the same accounts. When there is no internet connection, wait until you have an internet connection.

In terms of setting it up, just choose which calendars to show (such as work snd family) on each device.
