What is the bottleneck during imovie's stabilization analysis?

I have a 2008 core 2 iMac. It's fast, but I'm getting impatient waiting for imovie's stabilization analysis. What is the bottleneck in that process? Would it be the CPU, or the hard-drive? This will guide me in deciding a future purchase, whether to focus on CPU or upgrading to SSD.
