What is the difference between iPadOS 16’s extended desktop on 2nd monitor vs. traditional external desktop implementation on Mac and PC?

Hi, I think this time Apple allows the secondary display to show different things as the iPad display. Any pro and con on this new features vs. traditional implementation?
