The old school way saying it is "arm distance". Look like this suggestion was given before 27", 32" or even bigger size becomes popular.

I see the 27" demo distance in Apple Shop is very closed to keyboard, same as demo with 24". I think this is only for display effect, not good for anyone long term use at home.

Any suggestion? Thx!

I don't think there's any "ideal" distance.

It's "an individual user" preference.

Some like to be closer. Others want to "sit back" a bit.

I find that with a 27" display, I like to sit 30-32" away from it...

I believe too close is hard on your eyes. The doctor made a point of this re: iPads and our kids.

I think there's definitely something fundamental to the Arms Length thing because that's just what I naturally end up at without even thinking about it.

Three 27" monitors in wrap-around arrangement here.

All depends. I'm about "arm's length" from my 27" ASDs, but my arms are on the shorter side, so I likely am closer than someone taller. But that said, when I had two ASDs each in landscape, I had to push them further away as otherwise it was too wide & too close. But... my 54 year old eyes didn't like them that far away.

This doctor claims even for gaming monitor should be arm distance:
Seem like he means no matter what kind of screen size, I guess this even applies to 32" too. Don't understand his explanation lol xd.

It depends. Assuming retina they can be pretty close, but what works with a sitting desk might not work with a standing desk and vice versa. The ergonomics person at work told us he was more concerned about the total package, the lighting in the room, and whether we were taking adequate breaks from staring at the screen than any differences in normal view distances, which were about 24-36" at most desks.
