Hi guys and girls, I have an old imac g4 running operating system 10.2.8

Does anybody know what the latest version of itunes is that will work with this mac?

Thanks,

SaiBon

forgive my lack of understanding, what is PowerPc version and where can I get it? I though the versions were all just numbers like itunes 7 or itunes 8 etc?

PowerPC's are what Mac's prior to the Intel transition are referred too.

I believe the latest version that can support your Mac is iTunes 6. Not sure where you can download it though

You are possibly being more limited by the version of the operating system (OS X 10.2.8) than the Mac itself.

Latest version for 10.2.8 is iTunes 6.

Depending on your exact model of iMac, you could upgrade to a later version of OS X, which will in turn support later versions on iTunes. Depends on what you want to do with the Mac as to whether it's worth it.

thank you. I will search for a download of version 6 but if it no longer exsists, is there a way to updayte my mac so that another version might work?

Beat me to it. Post your exact model specs (processor, RAM etc.) and someone can advise best upgrade possibilities.

when i just clicked 'about this mac' it says:

version 10.2.8
Memory 256 MB
Processor 800 Mhz PowerPC G4

With that, you could just about run Tiger (10.4), or easily run Panther (10.3). Panther would give you access to up to iTunes 7.7.1. If you could upgrade the RAM to the maximum (1GB for that model I believe), you can run Tiger easily and have access to the latest iTunes 9.
