I lost my AT&T iPhone 4 in February, and have no choice but to wait until the next iPhone. My thing is, I can't wait a year for a new iPhone, and I'm anticipating that the new one will be available June/July. However, Verizon just released an iPhone, so I don't see how likely it would be to release a new iPhone 6-7 months later.

iPhone 5 in June/July as always. As of today, the rumor is Q3 if you scroll down the front page and read the article.

It's a fact.

If you're a noobie regarding iPhones in general, well now you know...

but if you had iPhone's in the past, you should know this by now...

Q3 is summertime. July-September-ish. The 5th generation iPhone will almost certainly launch in June or July.

If history is any evidence and with common sense, we can deduce that there will be an iPhone 5 announced in June, releasing in July.
You need to understand that there is a whole world outside America, and Apple doesn't care that Verizon customers got the iPhone 4. For just a minor population they would delay the iPhone globally? Think about it, of course they wouldn't.

Btw, check the front page and 9to5mac, iPhone 5 rumors are everywhere.

It won't be called iPhone 5. All indication is that the next generation of iPhone will feature 4 inch screen and everything else is pretty much identical. It might be called iPhone 4 HD or something like that.

It doesnt matter what they call it because it will still be the Iphone 5. Or 5th iphone.

Why do you have "no choice" but to wait until the next phone? You can buy a new 4, or get a 3GS for $49. AT&T has great refurb deals...bought my wife an iPhone 4 last week for $99.

You certainly have a choice. What are you using right now for a phone? If you buy a brand new iPhone in July/Aug, you are going to be paying full price as you are solidly inside your contract and not eligible for an early upgrade.

So if you do wait, you are likely going to be paying $399 ('full' retail price)or more for a new iPhone '5'. Current refurbs and the 3GS can be had for considerably less.

I would say 99%; You see a trend here ?

iPhone = June 2007
iPhone3G = June 2008
iPhone3GS = July 2009
iPhone4 = June/July 2010

Unless for some reason the 5th one is delayed due to the disaster in Japan ?

iPhone5 = June/July 2011

I think your percentage is quite outrageous. It's actually only 99.342345%. You need a new source.

You need to check your facts. A reliable source* with impeccable credentials and precognition says the likelihood is 99.342346%.

Umm... no.

The iPhone 5 will be coming out in June or July of this year. I don't care how modest the spec increase may seem to you, it will be a new model.

The 3GS situation was to get the model numbers synced back up after the iPhone 2 was released with the 3G moniker.

I agree, and expect this new iPhone-next this Summer, to be a bigger jump in specs and iOS over what the iPhone4 was compared to iPhone3GS.

I think iOS5 will be the biggest change, as well as the first time a larger screen is made, and of course first time for dual core processors. The iPhone5 will be a big enough jump over the i4 to warrant the "5" in the name. And next year the 6th generation will be the big "4G" release or "LTE" release.

Thanks for the clarification.

Despite my thorough knowledge of Apples product release cycles, for some reason after three attempts I still came up with 99.342347%, which just didn't seem correct.

I'm interested to see if the 3GS stays on or the iPhone 4 becomes $49. I'd pay a $100 to $200 premium for a Canon Camera built in to an iPhone 4. I was late to the original party. A buddy let me play with his classic. Owned every one since. I'm getting worse having got my iPhone 4 on day 2 and #2 in line. I got my iPad day one.

We will definatly see it this summer. I am 99% sure it will be called iPhone 5, and I am 100% sure we will all be let down by iOS 5. Still won't stop me from upgrading though.

Damn.. My source has never let me down. I'm disappointed. I will seek revenge. :)
