Now that the icons are more squircles in shape, it would be neat to see them change the look of the icon. But for consistency' sake I think they should've done away with it regardless.
I just realised... No TouchID for the iPad Air.

But my icons are still rounded edge squares like the home button etching.
Did Jony Ives say they implemented a "squircle" shape?
They still look like rounded edge squares to me.
He's just referring to the corner radius of the rounded rects in iOS 7 being larger than before, hence a slightly more rounded appearance. I had to design an icon a few weeks ago for iOS 7 and they have certainly changed.
Selecting files in Mavericks is also rounded now.
